1. Choose Your Letter Set
Select from the predefined options to quickly generate a random letter.
- A-Z: Focuses on uppercase letters.

The Story Behind This Page
I first started building this random letter picker when I was teaching my son to recognize the 26 letters of the English alphabet. It turned a potentially tedious chore into an engaging game.
We began with lowercase letters, so I set up a lowercase wheel. Wherever it landed, I’d have him call out the letter. Once he was comfortable, we moved on to uppercase, using the wheel the same way — spinning and having him say each letter aloud. After he had a solid grasp of both, I mixed uppercase and lowercase together to help him tell them apart.
When the recognition phase was done, we shifted to writing. Every evening, we’d play together: spin the wheel, and he’d write down whichever letter came up. We followed the same progression: lowercase first, then uppercase, and finally a mix of both.
As he progressed, I noticed a few stubborn letters still tripped him up. This is why I added the “custom” feature. By typing in just a handful of trouble letters, we could zero in on the specific shapes and sounds he needed more practice with, rather than wasting time on letters he already knew.
Of course, this tool isn’t just for early childhood education. From creative writing prompts and coding challenges to deciding a starting letter for a game, there are countless ways this simple tool can add a bit of spontaneity to your day.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the result of this random alphabet generator stored on a server?
No. All input and output data stays entirely within your own browser, running locally. The moment you close the page, everything is wiped clean, ensuring your privacy.
Is each spin completely random?
Yes, it is fully random. We use a randomization process for both the resulting letter and the number of rotations the wheel makes before stopping, so every spin feels unique.
Can I customize the wheel with words or phrases?
This specific page is a dedicated letter wheel, so it only supports single letters. However, if you need to spin for full words, names, or any other custom content, our Random Wheel Page is the perfect tool for that.
